Since the opening of our new Arts Precinct in January 2009, the Arts at Henley High School has grown at a phenomenal rate. We are very proud of all the students who are succeeding in their academic and artistic lives and who are contributing to both our school and the wider community.
Background
The purpose-built Arts Precinct has enabled an environment and ethos whereby students and teachers of all genres of the Arts can reside and work collaboratively. A number of changes have been introduced to meet the educational and artistic needs of our students, following our move to the Precinct. Some of these changes have included:
Overview
At Henley High School students develop a broad experiential understanding of the Arts in year 8. Students are able to select any of the Arts subjects offered for further specialisation after year 8. They develop their creative, analytical and communication skills through a variety of art forms.
As learners in the vibrant Arts community, students experience, explore and develop skills in a range of techniques, processes and concepts that will equip them for lifelong learning. Our school values of Respect, Responsibility, Equity and Achievement are integrated into our entire Arts curriculum.
As members of the Arts at Henley High School, students are able to identify and aspire to Arts-related careers, engage in a wide range of curriculum options and develop a strong sense of community through active participation in authentic Arts events. These include Artists-in-Residence Programs and Community Performances, through links with our Henley High School International Program, and through Industry experiences and participating in, or viewing Major Arts events.
Participation in the Arts curriculum enables students to extend their personal development. This can be expressed in all curriculum areas through self confidence and self expression creating an holistic student. The Arts encourages the social, emotional, intellectual and physical development of all our students.
