Exploring the UN Women theme, Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress., we heard from 2 leading and inspiring role models in South Australia.
Janelle Cuthbertson, Vice Captain of Port Adelaide Football Club and recognised as one of the premier intercept defenders in the league, shared her journey from the clay of the tennis arena to the grass of the footy oval. She highlighted the importance of our young women using determination, resilience and their support networks to achieve success.
Catherine Fitz-Gerald, award-winning South Australian artist and advocate for inclusive community engagement, drew from her 2024 Adelaide Fringe show, If Fabrics Could Speak, to share the memories of making, culture, family, learning, celebration and loss, highlighting the duality of challenge and progress that women must face head-on. This week, Catherine was also recognised for her talent and connection to community, being awarded the Fringe’s Visual Art and Design Award!
