ACADEMY OVERVIEW

The aim of the Henley Sports Academy is to assist student athletes in their sporting and academic pathway. Students have two 100 minute lessons per week over the whole year. The Hockey Academy focus for each term includes:

 

Term 1

  • Theory Focus: Sport Psychology/Goal setting Presentation. Technique Analysis.
  • Practical Focus: Individual and group fitness and conditioning programs: Skill Development.

Term 2

  • Theory Focus:  Coaching and Umpiring Accreditations: Community Coach/Umpire, Level 1 Coach/Umpire, Umpiring/Coaching Zone Carnival, Primary School Coaching. Guest Speakers/Presenters in Injury Management and Recovery.
  • Practical Focus: Individual, team and strategy development. Game play: Port Pirie Exchange and Statewide Knockout Championships

Term 3

  • Theory Focus:  Individual Performance Analysis. Performance Presentation.
  • Practical Focus: Individual, team and strategy development. Statewide Knockout Competitions.

Term 4

  • Theory Focus: Performance Presentation.
  • Practical Focus: Individual, team and strategy development
