Adelaide University

Henley High school accesses opportunities for student extension/enrichment in the following activities provided by The University of Adelaide: the Engineering Challenge, Maths/Science Impact, Women in Engineering Challenge, Mechanical Engineering Expo and Sustainability challenge. For the past two years Staff from the Faculty of Sciences have presented at the Science Information Evening for Parents and Students. Dr Tara Pukala, lecturer from the School of Chemistry and Physics works with staff and students as part of the Scientists in Schools program. Staff also access Professional Development sessions run by The University of Adelaide.

AiGTS - Australian Industry Group Training Services

Pat Bosco is the Business and Development Coordinator at AiGTS and is our representative at Henley High School. Henley High School has had a long association with Pat and he is a frequent visitor to the school providing advice to students on career pathways and apprenticeship testing.

Concept 2 Creation

The C2C Program was developed by the NAMIG (Northern Advanced Manufacturing Industry Group) Inc to provide a way for schools and industry in Northern Adelaide to work together to provide students with industry experience. Through a suite of programs and activities, C2C introduces a “product life cycle” approach to science, maths and technology education helping schools and students to develop the knowledge, understanding and appreciation of advanced manufacturing processes and possibilities through a problem based learning approach.

Students and industry work together to solve a problem that requires a product or service.  Assisted by industry partners students take the product from the concept, through research and development, production and quality assurance to the final creation and marketing.  Along the way they will use the science, maths and technological knowledge they learn in their school subjects.
 

ETSA Utilities & SA Power Networks

SA Power Networks introduce students to electro-technology careers, specialising in the  electrical trades such as Systems Electrical, Electrical Distribution Power-line and Electronics. The Taster Program provides an opportunity for students to gain some practical awareness in electro-technology. Students participate in a training day at the SA Power Networks training facility at Angle Park.

Flinders University

Flinders University staff presented sessions and provided support for the Regional Forensic Science Gifted and Talented Forum organised by Henley High School. Henley High School students also access key people and programs related to informing their future pathways, such as the “Inspiring Women in Engineering and IT Day”. Staff also access Professional Development sessions run by Flinders University.

Glenelg Engineering

Glenelg Engineering is an engineering manufacturing company that fabricates an extensive range of metal products. Michael Fiedler, the Managing Director has provided advice and industry knowledge and support for staff and students. Glenelg Engineering supports Henley High School in providing opportunities for Metal Engineering students to undertake their work placement.

Hendon Semiconductors

Since the establishment of the TTC Henley High School has developed a professional relationship and Memorandum of Understanding with Hendon Semiconductors. Staff and Students have participated in guided tours of Hendon Semiconductors world class facilities. Students have also been given the opportunity of accessing work placement, being able to experience first-hand the operations of the organisation.

Henley High School APPRENTICESHIP BROKER

Chris Houltby is the Western Adelaide Trade School for the Future Apprenticeship Broker for Henley High School. He visits the school one day a week to work with students arranging Work Placement, advice on careers, applying for positions and setting up School Based Apprenticeships.

LRD Engineering

Lindsay Research and Development supports Henley High School by providing opportunities for students to undertake their work placement. Simon Lindsay has also provided advice on the selection of machinery for the TTC as well as supporting staff by providing an insight into the Engineering industry.

Taster Program

TAFESA - Regency Campus

Over the last 5 years Henley High School has developed a working relationship with both the Electrical and Electronics departments at Regency campus. This collaboration has enabled our students to tour and work with many TAFE lecturers in a range of situations. Staff and students have accessed valuable career information and participated in real-life workplace experiences.

University of South Australia - MAWSON LAKES

In collaboration with Mr David Chan (Project Officer) from UniSA, Henley High School has implemented a peer mentoring program. This special association brings together University and Secondary students and teachers to explore Engineering, Science and Information and Communication Technology in practical manner. In addition, the Advanced Technology classes have accessed guided tours of the University of South Australia, Mawson Campus.

Wennig Designs

Wennig Designs is a small business owned and run by Nigel Stone and Wendy Falland. They design and package kits for electronic projects and provide construction details suited to electronics education. Henley High school has worked with Wennig over the past 4 years in professional development activities. This has provided staff with a more sophisticated understanding and application of knowledge, skills and technology required in industry.

Flinders Park Primary School

Linked with Year 12 Child Studies authentic audience activity. Students create an age appropriate numeracy activity and visit the school to undertake the summative assessment task with the Grade 2 students.

 Foodland Fulham Gardens

We have a good rapport and understanding with Foodland, they confer with our SSO to supply specials at the 'special' price and deliver our weekly order. They cater home ec practicals, SLC and provide the staff association milk.

Henley Community Kindergarten

Continues to grow with Industry tours and Structured Workplace Learning {SWL} and Work Experience opportunities. They provide an authentic audience for both formative and summative assessment tasks, where students attend the Kindergarten or the whole student body of the Kindergarten attend Henley to participate in cognitive, fine and gross motor development learning activities and healthy cooking practicals .They collaborate with us for Year 10, 11 & 12 Child Studies and VET Certificate II Community Services.

The Intellectual Disability Association of SA and their 'AFL 4 ME' program provide tickets to AFL matches to students with disability and their families via the SLC.
