I am writing to extend my congratulations to you and everyone involved in the production of Little Shop of Horrors.
As my daughter, Claudia, was involved in the production, it is difficult to remain impartial. However, I was extremely impressed by every aspect of the production: the singing, acting, musicianship, choreography, lighting, sound and overall direction were most impressive. The sense of teamwork and camaraderie was palpable: everyone involved was clearly committed to achieving an excellent result.
I’d especially like to congratulate Tania Madigan and Gavin Cox for their energy, professionalism and dedication in pulling this off.
The role of the arts in all levels of education is, in my opinion, undervalued and, more often than not, the arts in schools are inadequately resourced. And yet – as this production demonstrates – their application in teaching creativity, setting and working towards goals, problem solving, organisational skills and teamwork is highly valuable.
I commend you for leading a school that recognises the value of the arts and for encouraging staff and students to participate in this endeavour with such enthusiasm.
